The Vital Pregnancy Prenatal and Birth Prep Class

Class Overview

This virtual class is designed to take you, the pregnant couple, through the kind of care that one might receive while working with a midwife. My personal specialties during the perinatal period focus on nutrition and empowerment; it is my intention to support my clients in feeling confident in the way that they are caring for their bodies, thus optimizing the health of themselves and their babies, while supporting them to feel that they are confident in their choices. You will be able to become your own advocate, finding your own voice and acting from a place of agency in your birth experience. By the end of the class, you will have a host of tools to aid you in not just surviving the pregnancy, birth and postpartum period, but you will have the tools on how to thrive. The rest is up to you!

We will have 6 classes where we meet with a group of expectant parents.  The topics we will cover include:

1

Building a foundation of vital health during the pregnancy.

This first class focuses on supporting the optimization of nutrition and how it impacts fetal development, building the maternal biome and thus the newborn inheritance of a healthy microbiota, and preparing the way for a low-risk pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with nutrition.

We will debunk pregnancy myths, look at safe ways of treating colds and flus, review supplementation options and recommendations.

2

Flushing out the care team

a review of midwives, doulas, supportive OBs, home birth, hospital birth, and postpartum care. We will discuss the do’s and don’ts with family and friends attending.

3

This class is all about labor support tools

We dig a little bit deeper in this class, opening the conversation of what a supported relationship and pregnancy looks and feels like. We will also review tools such as hypnosis, pain relieving techniques, positions for labor, partner do’s and don’ts, setting you up for success on the birth of your dreams.  We will also work through the gate theory of pain and exercises for getting you closer to your dream birth.  We encourage partners to attend this class.

4

This class is about breast/chest feeding!

We will review the most helpful tools and tricks for a successful experience feeding your child, review products that will save you pain and time, review positions, challenges and their fixes and look at all the best formula options for when breastfeeding isn’t an option.
